
CODO pays courtesy visit to LASODA
The Coalition of Disability Organizations (CODO) paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) at Alausa, Ikeja. CODO Team comprising of members from coalition organizations; Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD), Hope Alive for Possibility Initiatives (HAPI), the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Nigeria (SCIAN). The visit to LASODA is part of CODO’s efforts to work closely with the agency to heighten the level of awareness on #AccessToAirports for #PWDs in Nigeria.
The visit also aimed at strengthening the cordial relationship between the agency and CODO which was established over a long period of time and to continue working hands-in-hands to keep advocating for the promotion and protection of the rights of #PWDs to foster an equitable society.
The two bodies deliberated on the current states of airports in the country and how they affect PWDs and also discussed the way forward as highlighted in the report from a survey conducted by CODO to assess the accessibility level of airports (Domestic and International) across Nigeria. #PWDs present at the event shared their experiences and also made recommendations on how to increase and improve access to airports for #PWDs across the country.
After the deliberation, CODO shared copies of the reports and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials with the agency. These were presented to Mr. Dare Diaro (General Manager, LASODA).
Accessible Airports for PWDs in Nigeria is a project funded by Disability Rights Fund and implemented by the Coalition of Disability Organizations (CODO).
