Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) deploys PWDs as election observers
Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) trained People with disabilities (PWDs) in FCT Abuja and seven states which include: Lagos, Gombe, Kano state, Abia state, Enugu state, Rivers state and Plateau as election observers; they (PWDs) will be observing the 2019 general elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 16, 2019 and Saturday, March 2, 2019. The observers will look out for what constitute barriers for PWDs to have #EqualVotingAccess at the polling units and to access provision of materials for PWDs at the polling units by INEC during the #elections.
CCD is working closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to make sure this becomes standard practice all across Nigeria. Going by the report of the Mapping exercise carried out by Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) in partnership with ClEEN Foundation and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with support from European Union (EU), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will find it convenient to conduct all-inclusive election across the country in the 2019 general elections and in subsequent elections that will be conducted in the future.
