REPORT OF DAY 1 OF DISABILITY AWARENESS WEEK OF CCD (DAW) 2009:
The inaugural Disability Awareness Week of CCD was held from November 3 – 5, 2009 at Bible Society of Nigeria Guest House, Palm Grove Estate, Lagos. Dignities at the opening ceremony includes: Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social development ably represented by Mr. Sam Apolowo, Director of Social Welfare in the Ministry; Mrs. Chinonye Ubakaeze representing the Secretary General, Nigeria Red Cross, Dr. O. D. Oke-Osanyintolu, General Manager Lagos State Emergency Management Agency ably represented by Mr. O.S. Olaopa; Comrade Ayodele Akele – Executive Director, Labour, Health and Human Rights Development Centre, Hon Taiye Oloye, Chairman Lagos State Association of the Blind, Mr. Obiora Ononugbu – Chairman, Spinal Cord Injured Association, Mrs. Ezinwanyi Ken-Ahia – Chair, Board of Trustees CCD among others.
REPORT OF DAY 2 OF DISABILITY AWARENESS WEEK OF CCD (DAW) 2009:
The second session at the inaugural CCD DAW 2009 was on Roll Back Malaria Program in Nigeria and Its Impact on Persons with Disabilities. It was held on day two of the event at the conference hall Bible Society of Nigeria Guest House, Palm Grove Estate, Lagos on November 4, 2009. The session was Chaired by Barr. Mustapha Akaja representing the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development. The guest speaker at the event was Dr. Laja Odunuga – Lagos State Manager for Support National Malaria Programe (DFID) Other discussants includes: Pastor Peter Ujuomu, Executive Director of Health Matters Incorporated, Comrd. Ayodele Akele – ED, Labour, Health, Human Rights and Development Centre and Mr. Solomon Meshack – member National Handcap Carers Association of Nigeria.
